When the dust settled, the Trinidad supporters were the ones cheering after the T&T team came out on top in a hard fought 40-24 win over a determined Guyanese team. The win gave Trinidad the coveted North America West Indies Rugby World Cup Champions title.
“Guyana fought hard,” said team captain Adam Fredericks, “but we dug deep.”
Frederick led from the front with three second half tries and two conversions that saw them through. The team return home to prepare for the next round of qualifiers for the Rugby World Cup that takes place in 2011.
