Friday was a “hill and gully ride” for Brandon Burke. Although he was defeated in the singles quarter finals by American Abrielle Flores (6-3, 6-4), his campaign in the doubles continues in the semi finals.

He and Darian Clarke of Barbados defeated Nick Rowlands of Great Britain and Jarret Brasseaux of the United States 4-6, 7-6, 7-5. They then posted a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Octavio Parim of Brazil and Ian Urigyen of Guatemala. This set them up to face Americans Greg Vlaimersky and Ric Rappicioli in the semi-final.

The Pan Caribbean All-Jamaica Junior Tennis Championships serve off on July 5, 2007 at 8:00am. Venue is the Eric Bell Center. You can see Jamaica’s top junior tennis players match their skills against their overseas counterparts.

The tournament’s format will see players in the 10 and 12 and under categories play first to eight games in the early rounds. The 14, 16 and 18 and under age groups will play two sets and then a tiebreaker for the third if necessary. In a twist to the tournament this year, each player will be required to umpire two games.
