Liguanea Club Junior Squash tournament a success

A successful junior squash tournament was held at the Liguanea Club over the weekend 5/6 April. 35 youngsters competed in three categories: Main (A), B and Novice. Trophies were donated by Chris Shim and drinks and snacks by Wisynco Trading Ltd. The tournament was very competitive and played in a real spirit of sportsmanship.

Winners A: Kerri-Anne Bell, runner up Justine Anderson, 3rd Jake Mahfood
B: Mary Jo Mahfood, runner up Oshain Marsh, 3rd Kelsey Fenton
Novice winner: Melissa Watters, runner up Blaise Bicknell, 3rd Adam Gunning
Sportsmanship award: Josh Mahfood

Results from the All Jamaica Squash Tournament

An exciting three days of juniors squash took place at the Liguanea Club
16-18 November 2007.  Fifty plus youngsters in ages ranging 7-18 years took
part in categories for both boys and girls U11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 and two
Novice categories.

Notable achievements: Brooke Burrowes securing both U17 and U19 girls
titles; Chris Binnie in his last junior tournament in Jamaica taking the U19
title.  Some great matches took place in the U13 and 15 categories; players
of note Josh Mahfood, David Mullings, Julian Morrison and Ashante Smith in
the boys and Jessica Perkins, Kerri-Ann Bell, Mary Jo Mahfood and Lauren
Mahfood in the girls.

Binnie out of Pan Am Squash Juniors

Jamaica’s last hope for a medal at the Federation of Pan American Squash Junior Championships has been sidelined. Chris Binnie was beaten in five sets by Alfredo Avila of Mexico in the third round. Binnie went down 3-9, 10-8, 9-10, 9-6, 9-5 in a 115 minute match.

Pan Am Squash Junior Championships underway

The 14 nation Pan Am Junior Championships got underway on Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Liguanea Club in Kingston, Jamaica.  Jamaica’s under 19 champion Chris Binnie and Josh  Pinnard from Trinidad will head the charge from the region for the boys’ title whilst Brooke Burrowes, Lauren Mahfood and Leisa Robothom head the charge for the girls.
