Luton Shelton drew back a late goal from a penalty to level the score at 1-1 and allow Jamaica to walk away with a draw. The teams had initially played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the encounter at the National Stadium and the return leg was being played at the Ato Boldin Stadium. Khaleem Hyland had opened the scoring for the home side in the 30th minute but a bad challenge in the 89th game Jamaica the opportunity to equalize.
It was all smiles and cheers for the Jamaicans who romped to a 5-1 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines in a friendly held in Jamaica. A double strike from Marlon King, and others from Demar Phillips
, Deon Burton and Ricardo Gardner put the game away from the Vincentians. A consolation strike came from Marlon James in the 57th but too little too late the Vincentians bemoaned.

In a keenly contested friendly, Grenada was able to come away with a 1-1 draw thanks to an early strike by Cassim Langaigne that kept the home side ahead for much of the contest. A collision in the 70th minute saw the Grenadian substitute goalkeeper being stretchered off and being replaced by an outfielder and seemed to mark a change in fortune for the visitors. On the 77th minute, a John Brayford cross found the head of Michael Morrison and was slotted home much to the chagrin of the home crowd.

England defeated Trinidad and Tobago in their soccer friendly, with a emphatic 3-0 win in a game played in Trinidad. Midfield Gareth Barry opened up the striking for the visitors but it was two strikes in either half from Portsmouth striker Jermaine Defoe that saw the home team away. In the opening rounds of the CONCACAF U-20 campaign, Cuba sought to assert their dominance early with a 5-0 thrashing of the Bahamas in Havana. With goals from Barbaro Adrila, Marcel Hernandez, Alberto Palmero, Lazaro Garcia and Hebiel Cordoves, Cuba opened the floodgates at the Pedro Marrero Stadium. The teams are competing out of Group A which also features Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

In the second installment of the Jason Roberts Summer Kicking Programme. Grenada will play host to some of Europe’s finest players, coaches and administrators. The likes of Jason Jarret, Emile William Ivanhoe Hesky, Jason Brown and Jason Roberts himself will be in attendance as they look to build a system for professional development of the island’s youth in football. Arguably one of Barbados’ most prominent footballers, Victor “Gas” Clarke has died. Clarke passed away yesterday morning at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, he was 65 years old. He leaves to mourn a wife, a son and a daughter.
Clarke is best remembered for representing Barbados in it’s football squad from 1961-1977. Rated as one of the best footballers to have come out of the Caribbean, Clarke had 59 national caps and after his retirement went on to coach at the National Sport Council.
“He was very passionate in what he did and that was football. He never wavered in his duties and he was loved by all.” said Adrian Donovan (Assistant Director of Sports)
Antigua and Barbuda showed power and performance in their encounter with St. Lucia in their recently soccer friendly when they drubbed the visitors 6-1 in the friendly held at the Antigua Recreation Grounds yesterday. Though they played in front of a small home crowd, the Wadadli boys did not disappoint as they showed confidence in ball control and ultimately their victory. Kerry “Arab” Skepple was awarded player of the match for his two goal contribution.

After an exciting match that left the crowd with mixed emotions, the Jamaicans and Trinidadians have managed not to rub salt into the wound of their rivalry. After a devastating 2-0 start by the Jamaicans in the first half, the Trinidadians maintained composure and form to claw their way back unto even keel with the Jamaicans to end the match at 2-2.
The scoring started in the 34th minute when Phillips made a superb pass to an advancing King on the left who turned and curled a beautiful strike into goal. The second goal came from the Jamaican team captain, Tyrone Marshall, who latched unto a diagonal pass from Phillips and continued on goal with a slanted strike into the side netting to put the Jamaicans up 2.
The Trinidadians were not to be undone. Their maturity and composure showed through as on the 74th minute, their patience paid off with substitute Telesford slotting home a loose ball in the area. Aurtis salvaged the equalizer in extra time with a spectacular shot that beat substitute keep Duwayne Kerr.
