Puerto Rico, through a spirited performance by Elias Ayuso who scored 39 points, beat Brazil to cop the bronze medal at the FIBA Americas Olympic qualifying event. It was merely a contest of bragging rights, however, as both teams failed in their bid to qualify for the Beijing Olympics on this round. The 6′ 1″ Young scored 22 points pulled down 5 rebounds and dished out 2 assists in the sterling effort.
