The Olympic qualifiers are now on for Women’s soccer in the region. The qualifiers thus far have yielded some rather interesting results, the most astounding ones being the Cuban victory over the British Virgin Islands - 21:0 and the Trinidad and Tobago win over St. Vincent and the Grenadines - 9:0. The Bahamas pulled a season best run of 2:59.18s to reel in the silver in the 4×400m relay, men’s. The team of Avard Moncur, Michael Mathieu, Andrae Williams, Chris Brown. They were bested by the United States in a World leading time of 2:55.56s.

With a jump of 2.35m, Donald Thomas left his mark in Osaka by capturing the men’s high jump ahead of Yaraslav Rybakov of Russia and Kyriakos Ioannou of Cyprus. All three contestants pinned the World Leading mark for this season but Thomas with the least tries to that height took home the hardware.

Asafa Powell had to settle for third best at the World Championships. Any other day, 9.96 probably would have cut it to top the podium but not this day as Gay ran close to his personal best at 9.85 with Atkins coming in to pip Powell on the line as well setting a new national record at 9.91. Atkins continued to show form and poise leading up to the IAAF World Championships in Japan when he clocked a personal best while running the 200m in a mete in Germany.
Atkins clocked 20.50 seconds to take the even in easy fashion. Finishing behind the Bahamian star was Chris Clarke (Britain) 20.87 while theird was Ingo Shultz (21.04).
