Jermaine Gonzales raced to a Jamaican 400m record on Thursday (22 July) at the 10th Samsung Diamond League meeting in Monaco.

Gonzales ran 44.40, which is also the world leading time, to beat Roxbert Martin’s Jamaican record of 44.49 secs, set back in 1997.

Ricardo Chambers, who trains with Usain Bolt and Gonzales at Racers Track Club, was also impressive, running 44.59, a personal best. Both Jamaicans destroyed the field as third place Chris Brown finished some way back in 45.05, a season best.
