Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gary Hunt will present cheques totalling $1,050,000.00 to some of Trinidad and Tobago’s top athletes under the Elite Athlete Assistance Programme (EAAP) tomorrow afternoon from 2.00 p.m. at the Ministry.
Olympic silver medallist Emmanuel Callender received his cheque of $150,000 yesterday at a brief ceremony since he was due to leave Trinidad last night bound for his training base in Orlando, Florida.
The eight other recipients are a mix of young and experienced athletes, who have attained the required standard to receive funding under the EAAP. Athletes must have attained the qualifying international ranking as determined by the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee and/or won medals at specific international games.
