The 100M might not have been his favourite event but it seems he’s the world’s best at it. Running a world record 9.72s, Bolt ran away from the field at the Reebok Grand Prix held in New York, leaving his closest rival in the dust. Tyson Gay managed a respectable 9.85s but on a night such as this, it was not enough to challenge Bolt who has now stamped his authority on this field. Darvis Patton rounded out the podium with a run of 10.07s.
“Just coming here, knowing a lot of Jamaicans were here giving me their
support, it meant a lot,” said Bolt “I just wanted to give them what they
wanted”
