The Caribbean mines 16 medals at the 5th IAAF World Youth Championship
The Caribbean mined 4 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze medals at the 5th IAAF World Athletics Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Stellar golden performances were displayed by Jamaica’s Dexter Lee in the boys 100m and Ramone McKenzie in the boys 200m, Cuba’s Dailenis Alcantara in the girls triple jump, and Barbados’ Shane Brathwaite in the boys octathlon.
Brathwaite became Barbados first ever World Champion in any age group, with a personal best record of 6261 points.
